In a meet that was
probably closer than it should have been, Jenison wound up beating
Grand Rapids Catholic Central 101 to 85. Going into the diving
event, we were behind 32 to 30. Our divers did really well,
going 1, 2, and 5 to put us in the lead 41 to 37. I think
at that point some changes were made to the lineup to make sure
we didn't lose the meet. The next two events allowed the Cougars
to tie it up at 55. The 500 free gave us back the lead, which was
never in question after that.
We still miss Matt
Anderson, who is out with some illness. Apparently, Adam Petto is
out for the season with a shoulder injury.
Our 200 Medley relay team
of Brad Dotson, Derek Zokoe, Jeff Walkotten, and Todd Kennedy won this
event in 1:46.14.

West Michigan Relays

We placed 11th at the
West
Michigan Relays on Saturday. The meet started off on a very
serious note when freshman diver, Charlie Frens, hit the board
during warmups. He was executing a reverse dive when the
back of his head made contact with the diving board, knocking him
out. He was rescued from the bottom of the pool and taken across
the street to the hospital where tests were run and staples were
applied.
He is expected to make a
full
recovery. There was no damage to the spine or skull. He may
have a headache for a while.
The team was pretty shook
up
by the whole ordeal. Our divers did not compete. The rest
of the team managed to turn in a pretty solid performance in spite of
this situation.
Details to follow...
